Functional Health + Nutrition
As a Functional and Nutritional Medicine practitioner I focus on helping patients improve their organ function and their overall health instead of only managing their symptoms.
This offers a unique and supported approach to finding and addressing the factors that lead to or aggravate their chronic conditions.
Armed with modern science and ancient knowledge, we empower the body to restore and protect itself to resist disease.
I explore a detailed clinical assessment, body composition analysis, review of current investigations and your functional testing to piece together your puzzle collaboratively. This may use a food as medicine approach and plant based nutrients as supports. Don’t expect a one size fits all as every presentation is totally unique.
My story
“ The diagnosis of a significant autoimmune disorder in my early 40’s prompted a deep reevaluation of my life and health perspectives. This experience catalysed a profound interest in the field of preventive medicine, particularly its evidence-based approaches that emphasise the root causes of illness. Subsequently, I pursued advanced studies in Functional and Nutritional Medicine, Infusion Medicine, and Certified as a Gut Microbiome practitioner.
My professional development extended to specialized training in disordered eating, metabolic syndrome, diabetes management, fatty liver disease, and obesity. In my roles as the Liver Transplant Coordinator for the state of New South Wales and as a Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist within multiple public health Intensive Care and Emergency settings, I witnessed first hand the catastrophic health complications associated with poor dietary and lifestyle choices. Conditions such as Type 2 Diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, Fatty liver disease, Hypertension, and Metabolic syndrome all demonstrate a preventable aspect particularly when early intervention strategies are employed.
Although the market offers numerous miraculous quick-fix solutions, the persistence of learned and “stuck” beliefs and lifestyle patterns undermine long-term health outcomes.
The only truly effective approach is to prioritise sustainable personalised lifestyle modifications that are not only possible but also enjoyable.
